Worthington council member faces sex charge

WORTHINGTON, Ohio – A Worthington City Council member is facing a felony charge for allegedly groping a teenage intern at his business.

Worthington police say Joseph Davis is charged with gross sexual imposition.

A 17-year-old girl told police that Davis, 43, touched her inappropriately in a back room at Worthington Jewelers, the business he owns in downtown Worthington.

Davis, who has been a member of City Council since 2011, turned himself in to police and the case will be turned over to the grand jury, police Chief James Mosic said.

Mosic says gross sexual imposition carries a maximum sentence of 18 months in prison.
