Ardith Mers realized early that she was put here to help others. As a child, she always tried to make things better when she could. In high school, she volunteered at a local orphanage on the weekends. As a young adult, she volunteered at Good samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. she began to notice that small, random acts of kindness can make a big difference in the life of others.
Thus began a way of life for Ardith; she calls it “freelancing for the Lord.” Of the many things she does for others, she mostly enjoys connecting and networking with people. For over 25 years, she has been the coordinator of the st. Paul Church prayer line, as well as working for the Presentation Ministries prayer line in Cincinnati.
As if being a beacon of hope for most of Ohio wasn’t enough, Ardith co-founded Cradling Christianity – whose efforts are geared toward education, housing and jobs to encourage Christians to remain in their homeland – after a pilgrimage
to the Holy Land in 2006. she is also an advocate for bone cancer research, having raised funds for national osteosarcoma research programs via her Golfers Against Cancer foundation, which she co-founded.
With all this caring for others, one may wonder who cares for Ardith? “Over the years,” she says, “I have been surrounded by thoughtful, giving people, most especially my husband. Being personally touched by the kindness of others, I have felt motivated to ‘give forward’ whenever I can.” ▪
