Most educators enjoy the perk of having their summers off; but some just see that time as an opportunity to do more.
Jane Morgan is a multiple disability teachers’ aide during the school year, but when summer break rolls around you won’t find her sipping iced tea by the pool. As the head cook of the nonprofit scioto youth Camp, Jane serves over 150 people a week, 4 times a day for 4 weeks. Jane is the first face they see when they wake up and the last one before they go to bed, and that face always has a smile on it.
Jane puts in the extra effort during the school year too. she teaches two children’s classes at her church each week. Two times throughout the school year, she teaches an after-school Good News Club through the Child Evangelism Fellowship. During Christmastime, she volunteers a week at Franklin Graham’s Operation Christmas Child to help process the shoebox gifts. For kids, Jane has all the time in the world, saying, “I feel that kids are my business and I love working with them.” ▪
