Addie Kearns earned the honor of acting as a Diversity Steward at Shanahan Middle School in Lewis Center this year, an incredible responsibility for an 11-year-old. But Addie was a natural fit. She’s been an advocate for her big brother Alex, who happens to have Down syndrome, for years and is passionate about inclusion. As the youngest Team Captain in the 2017 Columbus Buddy Walk, Addie led her team in raising over $3,000 and has goals of much more this year!
Addie has hosted awareness events at her school, where she shared information about Down syndrome each day during the morning announcements, and kids were invited to participate in awareness activities centered around inclusion.
Addie gives back because she believes in something genuine and true: anyone has a capacity to make a difference in the world. And wow, does she ever – it’s what makes her a Sunny 95 Rising Star! It’s why she was selected as part of Sunny 95’s Rising Stars Class of 2018.
