Prior to a service trip to Guatemala, Haley obtained twenty used computers to donate to a rural clinic. She came home and founded “Gateway to Technology” – a non-profit company that obtains old computers from companies and redistributes them to students and groups, who in most instances, cannot afford them.
Haley said, “I was shocked because most of the families down there don’t have anything. They’ve never had a computer, they’ve never learned how to use a computer. Never learned how to use a tablet. I think I’ve always strived to be a part of something that’s bigger than myself. And I’ve never known what that is…but once I started “Gateway to Technology” I finally learned what that meant.”
Haley joins us as part of our Class of 2019 Rising Stars and will receive a $1,000 grant from Sunny 95 and Franklin University along with a $529 OTTA 529 Savings Plan.
