7 more shootings this weekend

Columbus police faced another busy weekend, with nine people shot, three of them fatally, in seven separate incidents, including a 14-year-old boy who died after being shot while riding a scooter on a Franklinton street early Friday.

Carlos Carrasco struck out 10 and won his first start since being stricken with leukemia last year, leading the Indians to a 9-2 win over the Kansas City Royals.

C.J. Cron hit a tiebreaking two-run homer in the ninth inning, and the Detroit Tigers got to Cincinnati’s bullpen for the second straight day in a 3-2 victory over the Reds.

JaCoby Jones crushed a two-run homer in the ninth inning to power the Tigers past the Reds, 6-4.

Royals 3, Indians 2 (10)

Maikel Franco hit a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning to give the Kansas City Royals a 3-2 win over the Indians in just the third major league game decided by the debated extra-inning runner rule.

Reds 7, Tigers 1

Mike Moustakas drove in four runs in an emphatic first impression, and Cincinnati’s trio of high-priced newcomers turned the Reds’ long-delayed opener into a 7-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers.

Indians 2, Royals 0

Shane Bieber dominated Kansas City’s hitters, striking out 14 in six innings as the Indians beat the Royals 2-0 in their delayed home opener.
