COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the third weekend, the Ohio Department of Transportation will close part of I-670 and I-71 near downtown for pavement repairs and resurfacing.
Completely closing part of I-670 and I-71 for a whole weekend is more efficient than working nightly on a small section of pavement, a process ODOT spokeswoman Nancy Burton says could take months.
This weekend, crews are working on I-670 westbound between Leonard Avenue and I-70 on the West Side and I-71 northbound between Parsons Avenue and I-670. The roadways and exit/entrance ramps are scheduled to reopen by 5:00 a.m. Saturday.
FRIDAY, MAY 1 – 8:00 p.m. – the following ramps will close:
I-670 WEST
Dublin Rd. to I-670 west to I-70. (Detour is Dublin Rd. east to SR 315 south)
Grandview Ave. to I-670 west (Detour is Dublin Rd. east to SR 315 south to I-70 west)
SR 315 south to I-670 west (Detour is SR 315 south to I-70 west)
Goodale Blvd. to I-670 west (Olentangy River Rd. to SR 315 south I-70 west)
Jack Gibbs Blvd. to I-670 west (Detour is Cleveland Ave. to Broad St. to I-71 south to I-70 west)
Summit St to I-670 west (Detour is Summit to 3rd south to I-70 west)
4th St. to I-670 west (Detour is 5th Ave. to I-71 south to I-70 west)
Leonard Ave. to I-670 west (Detour is 5th Ave. to I-71 south to I-70 west)
I-670 east to I-71 north (Detour is I-670 east to SR 315 north to I-270 east to I-71 north)

Parsons Ave/Main St. to I-71 north (Detour is Parsons/Main St. to 4th St. to I-670 east to I-71 north)

Miller-Kelton to I-70 west (Detour is Main St. or Livingston Ave. to 3rd St. to I-70 west)
9:00 p.m. – the ramp from I-71 south to I-670 west will close. Traffic will be re-routed to I-70 west.
I-670 west closes. Traffic must either go to I-71 north or I-71 south.
10:00 p.m. – I-70 east reduced to two lanes Short Street to I-71 north.
I-70 west reduced to two lanes between Miller-Kelton and I-71 north.
The ramps from I-70 east and west to I-71 north close. (Detour is SR 315 north to I-270 east to I-71 north)
5:00 a.m. Monday, all ramps and lanes of I-670 west and I-71 north will be open.
