Man charged with killing his wife

COLUMBUS – A man who held police at bay at his East Side home for several hours has been arrested and charged with the murder of his wife.

Columbus homicide investigators say 39-year-old Keith McCauley II killed his wife, Lucille, who was found badly injured in front of her home Thursday afternoon and died later at the hospital.

Officers summoned by a neighbor who reported a severely injured woman found Lucille McCauley, 39, in front of her home at 6200 Chinaberry Drive at 4:27 p.m., Sgt. Stanley Latta said.

Lucille McCauley was transported to Mount Carmel East Hospital in critical condition and died shortly after 5:00, Latta said.

Keith McCauley was arrested by SWAT officers in front of his residence after a standoff that Latta says lasted several hours and charged with one count of murder.

This case remains under investigation.

This is the 18th homicide of 2018 in Columbus.
