COLUMBUS, Ohio – The uniforms the Buckeyes will wear onto the field at the Sugar Bowl game against Alabama will include an homage to the program’s past.
Nike has designed uniforms for all four of the NCAA College Football Playoff semifinalists.
The No. 4 Buckeyes (12-1) face the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide Jan. 1 (8:30 p.m./ESPN). Oregon and Florida State play in the other semifinal at the Rose Bowl.
Ohio State will be fitted out in their traditional Mach Speed uniform designs (top of page) but the Pro Combat Hypercool base layer (above) is illustrated with a reproduction of one of the last “chalk talk” sessions of legendary coach Woody Hayes, preserved by the athletic department. The pattern features a literal print of Woody Hayes’ hand written notes for a book he was working on.
The uniforms also feature black Nike Vapor Knit Gloves (above) with a scarlet underlay and Nike Vapor Untouchable cleats highlighted with scarlet accents.
