COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Buckeyes put together back-to-back women’s basketball wins for the first time since December, outlasting Wisconsin 65-59 in double overtime Thursday night at Value City Arena.
The last time Ohio State (13-10, 3-7) won two games in a row was when they put together a four-game winning streak between Dec. 17 and 30.
The Badgers (10-13, 2-8) lost despite a marquee performance by Jacki Gulczynski, who scored 32 points and pulled down 15 rebounds.
Ashley Adams led three Buckeyes in double figures with 16 points.
At the end of a see-saw second half, OSU was trailing by four when Tayler Hill was fouled on a three-point attempt. Hill made the first two free throws and deliberately missed the third, which Ameryst Alston grabbed and put back at the buzzer to tie the game.
Wisconsin kept a small lead through much of the first overtime, but Amber Stokes tied the score with 1:07 to play.
In the second overtime, it was the Buckeyes’ turn to take control, hitting three free throws and two layups as they tallied five unanswered points in the space of a little over a minute and a half, outscoring the Badgers 7-1 in the second extra period.
Hill and Stokes each scored 15 points for Ohio State.
