1 dead in triple shooting

COLUMBUS – Two people were killed and two others injured in separate shooting incidents a few minutes apart late Sunday, capping another violent weekend in Columbus.

Three homicides in less than 48 hours raised the total number of murders in Columbus this year to 156. There have been 12 homicides in Columbus since Sept. 10.

One woman, four men and a 17-year-old boy were wounded in separate incidents.

A 29-year-old woman died in a double shooting at an East Side apartment complex late Sunday night.

Police say Dasia Berry and Rico Williams were in the 4500 block of Lakeshore Street South at approximately 11:21 p.m. when someone fired gunshots at them.

Berry was driven to an address in the 2500 block of S. Hamilton Road where officers found her.
Madison Township paramedics took her to Mount Carmel East Hospital where she died just before 5:00 a.m. Monday, Sgt. James Marable of the Columbus Homicide Unit said.

Williams, 39, was listed in stable condition.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation.

A man was found behind the Weber Road Market, in the 900 Block of E. Weber Road, at approximately 11:04 p.m. by Columbus police officers dispatched to the area on a report of gunshots shots fired, Sgt. Edward Powell III of the Homicide Unit said

A man who had been shot in the face directed the officers to the rear of the business where they found Natiquez Morton and another man, both suffering from gunshot wounds, Powell said.

Morton, 26, was taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in critical condition. Andrew Johnson, 23, was listed in stable condition at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital.

Clinton Township paramedics pronounced the third victim dead at the scene.

Police had also not released the name of a man who was found shot to death in a Northeast Side street early Saturday.

Officers called to the 1700 block of Morse Road just after midnight when passersby saw a man lying in the roadway, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, and stopped to help, but the man died just before 2:00 a.m. at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital, Marable said.

The circumstances that led to the shooting are still under investigation and the victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
