COLUMBUS – Three men and one teenager were killed and six other people injured in separate shooting incidents over just two days in Columbus.

The most recent incident occurred just after 10:00 Sunday night when 15-year-old Musse Abdikadir Hassan was shot to death in the 700 block of Canonby Place and Abdikadir Abdirahman Abdi, who was delivering a pizza in the area, was injured by the gunfire, detectives said.

This was the 54th homicide of the year in Columbus.

It came minutes after a shooting in a parking lot in the 2400 block of N. Cassady Avenue left Darius Lanier-Walker, 25, dead, Sgt. James Marable of the Homicide Unit said.

The violence began just before 12:44 a.m. Saturday when police say Joshua Michael Jennings fired gunshots at a home in the 2500 block of Vanderberg Avenue, on the West Side, hitting Daniel Maurice, 38, in the head and killing him, Marable said.

Jennings, 32, drove away and was arrested at the Marathon gas station at 2805 W. Broad Street after his car was spotted by a Columbus police sergeant.

Shaquille Conner, 23, died after detectives say he was shot during a gun battle with an unknown suspect in front of the XL Lounge, 1536 N. Cassady Avenue, just after 1:00 Sunday morning. He died later at Grant Medical Center, Sgt. Doug Jones said.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to call the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS.

Marable says this raised the total number of homicides in Columbus in 2020 to 53.
