LOUISVILLE – The Bats plated four runs in the eighth inning to salt away a 5-1 win over the Clippers at Louisville Slugger Field Wednesday, despite a strong outing by starter Gavin Williams.
Christian Encanacion-Strand lined a bases-loaded single to center field to give the Bats a 5-0 lead.
Williams (1-1) took the loss for the Clippers despite striking out 10 over 5 2/3 innings while giving up one run on only two hits.
Zack Brown (2-1) got the win for Louisville.
