COLUMBUS – A 19-year-old man has been charged with murder in the 63rd homicide of the year in Columbus, the death of a man in a double shooting on the Hilltop Wednesday afternoon.
Police are looking for David Johnson, whose last known address was the S. Harris Avenue home where Derek Ponder was shot to death and a woman was sent to the hospital in stable condition, according to Sgt. James Marable of the Columbus police Homicide Unit.
Johnson’s whereabouts are unknown and anyone with any information is asked to contact police at 614-645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477). .
Officers called to 70 S. Harris Ave at 3:14 p.m. on a report of a shooting Ponder, 26, and 42-year-old Shandi Wiley suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Ponder died about three hours later at Grant Medical Center.
Wiley was taken to OSU Wexner Medical Center where Marable says she is expected to recover.
