Teen sought in slaying that led to subsequent deadly shooting

COLUMBUS – Police are looking for a 17-year-old they say fatally shot a man during an argument on the East Side last week.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old man who was shot a few days later while sitting next to a memorial for the victim of the earlier shooting died on Sunday, raising the total number of homicides in Columbus for the year to 89, police said.

Detectives on Friday filed an arrest warrant for Jaizion Reid, 17, in connection with the shooting death of Lavarr Madison during an argument involving several people in the 1000 block of S. Ashburton Road on Aug. 15, Sgt. Edward Powell III of the Columbus Homicide Unit said.

Anyone who knows Reid’s whereabouts is asked to contact Columbus police.

Three days after the shooting, Sincere Moore was seated next to a memorial for Madison when walked up to him and shot him several times, according to Sgt. James Marable of the Homicide Unit.

Moore, 19, was taken to a hospital in critical condition and died on Sunday evening, Marable said.

Suspect named in July homicide

Police are looking for a 39-year-old man in connection with the fatal shooting of another man on the East Side.

Dashawn Hicks has been charged with murder for allegedly shooting Stephone Moore, 33, to death when the two exchanged gunfire during an argument in the 1300 block of Lockbourne Road on July 25, Marable said.

Anyone who knows Hicks’ whereabout is asked to contact Columbus police.
