COLUMBUS – An 11-year-old boy was not hurt after being shot while playing a video game in his bedroom in Blacklick early Sunday.

The boy told police he heard a pop while playing in his bedroom in the 400 Block of Dover Pond Drive at approximately 2:00 a.m. and felt something hit him in the right side of his chest, Det. Robert Reffitt of the Columbus police Felony Assault Unit.

The boy spotted a hole in the drywall of the room and he and his father found a bullet on the floor, Reffitt said.

The boy required no medical treatment.

Officers said there was a call reporting shots being fired to the west of the location and it appears the round that struck the boy resulted from that incident, Reffitt said.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Columbus police at 614-645-4141 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS(8477).
