14-year-old is latest shooting victim

COLUMBUS – It has already been the second-most deadly year in Columbus and a 14-y/o boy has become the 148th homicide victim of 2021.

Police say Daymar Carlisle was shot in the 1500 block of Arlington Avenue in North Linden just after 10:00 p.m. Monday night and died at 3:05 a.m. Tuesday at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Columbus has already recorded more homicides that in 2017 and is closing in on last year’s record number of 175.

The 148th murder of 2020 was not reached until Nov. 20.

The city has experimented with a redeployment of homicide detectives, among other initiatives, to battle the record number of deaths, a high number of which have involved youthful victims and perpetrators.
