COLUMBUS – A 15-year-old was one of two people shot to death late Friday on the Northeast Side, according to Columbus police.
Officers and paramedics dispatched to the area of N. Hamilton Road and Warner Road on a reported shooting
at approximately 11:00 p.m. found Mahky Andrews, 15, seated in a vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound, Sgt. Edward Powell III of the Homicide Unit said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by Columbus Division of Fire personnel.
Police were told that the shooting took place in the 5600 Block of Caledonia Road, where officers arrived to find 18-year-old Layton Ridgedell lying in the parking lot where he was also pronounced dead, Powell said.
The deaths raised the number of homicides in Columbus this year to 56, according to Powell.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown and the shootings are still under investigation.
