2 dead in South Side bar shootout

COLUMBUS – Two men were killed and three others injured when a fight at a South Side erupted into a gun battle Monday night, police said.

Glen Clark and Nicholas Dowler were among five men shot when an altercation at the Old Landmark bar in the 100 block of Rumsey Road escalated into an exchange of gunfire at approximately 9:41 p.m., Sgt. James Marable of the Columbus police homicide unit said.

Clark, 50, was pronounced dead from an apparent gunshot wound at the scene by Hamilton Township paramedics and the 34-year-old Dowler died later at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, Marable said.

Three other men — age 38, 53 and 65 — suffered gunshot wounds and were also taken to Grant.

All five men were customers at the bar when the disturbance began, Marable said.

These were the 81st and 82nd homicides in Columbus in 2022.
