2 teens killed in crash of stolen car

COLUMBUS – Two teens were killed when the stolen car they were driving crashed on the East Side Sunday night, police said.

The 14-year-olds were in a Hyundai Elantra that went out of control while traveling east on E. 5th Avenue, crashed into a utility pole at the intersection with St. Clair Avenue and overturned, ejecting two of the occupants at approximately 8:19 p.m., according to accident investigators.

One of the boys died at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center and another at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

The third victim was in stable condition at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, police said.

The vehicle was reported stolen.

The investigation is ongoing.
