COLUMBUS – Nearly a dozen people were shot in Columbus over a stretch of less than four days, including four juveniles who were injured and two men who died, raising the city’s murder total for the year to 98.
Dontae Crowder, 25, died Saturday night at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center after he was found by Columbus police officers called to the 1800 block of E. Rich Street on a report of a shooting, Sgt. James Marable of the Homicide Unit said.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation.
This was the 98th homicide of 2021 in Columbus.
Officers investigating a report of shots fired in front of 4116 Larry Place at 5:26 a.m. Saturday received another call reporting that someone had been shot inside a white truck in the driveway, Sgt. Eric Pilya said.
An unidentified man in his 30’s found in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound, was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:01 a.m.
There was no suspect information, Pilya said.
This was the 97 homicide of the year.

Two children were among four people shot on an East Side interstate Friday.
Two other juveniles were injured in shootings over the weekend.
Police say a 16-year-old was shot and his 19-year-old cousin injured when several males attacked them in the 100 block of N. Wilson Road early Saturday morning, and an 11-year-old was listed in critical condition after police say he was shot in the stomach accidentally by a family member on the Northeast Side Sunday night.
A man and woman were injured in separate incidents Friday and early Monday.
