COLUMBUS – A Blacklick man has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting in South Linden Saturday night.
Anthony Wilkes, 22, was found injured in a vehicle parked at the intersection of E. 17th Avenue and Cleveland Avenue at 11:08 p.m., minutes after the discovery of the victim of a shooting, who died at the scene about one block away, according to Sgt. David Shimberg of the Columbus police Homicide Unit.
Officers found Anthony Butts, 30, at 1081 E. 18th Avenue suffering from a gunshot wound and found Wilkes a few minutes later, Shimberg said.
Wilkes was taken to a hospital in critical condition and charged with Butts’ murder on Sunday.
Police say it appears the two men were involved in an argument that led to the shooting.
This was the 74th homicide of the year in Columbus.
This incident is still under investigation.
