COLUMBUS – Chris Roller’s grand slam in the second inning provided the Clippers more than enough offense to hand the Iowa Cubs a 10-2 defeat Wednesday night at Huntington Park.
Roller tagged a 3-2 pitch from Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks (0-1) and sent it over the fence in center field to give Columbus a 4-1 lead.
Clippers starter Adam Scott pitched effectively for 4 2/3 innings but it was Tim Herrin (1-0) who was awarded the victory in relief.
