COLUMBUS – Columbus police are looking for a suspect in the 99th homicide of 2021, a deadly shooting at West Side restaurant early Wednesday morning.
UPDATE: 7/2/21 6:48 a.m.: Jonathan Woodruff, 33, of Columbus, was charged with murder in connection with this incident and turned himself in to police at the Franklin County Jail on July 1.
Detectives say Timothy McGuire and another man were arguing at Halal New York Gyro, 3464 Sullivant Avenue at 4:20 a.m. when the suspect fired several shots at McGuire, 21, as the suspect drove out of the parking lot in a white SUV with front passenger side damage, Sgt. Edward Powell of the Homicide Unit said.
Columbus paramedics pronounced McGuire dead at 4:27 a.m., Powell said
The suspect was described as a male black with medium length dreadlocks, wearing a black jacket with the design of a skull on the back and a red hooded sweatshirt under the jacket, Powell said.

A 15-year-old boy is recovering from a gunshot wound after being shot on an East Side street early Tuesday.
Officers responding to the area of 3103 Astor Avenue at approximately 3:22 a.m. on a report that someone had been shot found the victim in front of 922 Ashburton, Sgt. Doug Jones of the Felony Assault Unit said.
The teen was taken to a local hospital in critical condition but was upgraded to stable condition and is expected to survive, Jones said.
A second call to dispatchers reported that the victim and his brother were walking on Astor when the shooting occurred.

Meanwhile, police have arrested a Hilltop man in connection with a fatal shooting June 23.
SWAT officers Tuesday arrested Adam Manns, whose last known address was on S. Powell Avenue, on a murder charge stemming from the death of James Hayden, 29, who was killed following an argument at a Northeast Side store, Sgt. Edward Powell of the Homicide Unit said.
Hayden’s death was the 95th homicide of 2021 in Columbus.
Manns, 22 was arrested in the 4700 block of E. Livingston Avenue at approximately 2:15 p.m. and taken to the Franklin County Correctional Center.
