Columbus sets new homicide record

COLUMBUS – A teenager shot to death in a drive-by in Blacklick Wednesday became the 178th homicide victim of 2021.

The number eclipses the revised number of murders tecorddd in all of 2020, according to Homicide Unit detectives.

Jakwan Radford, 17, was apparently shot at approximately 5:02 p.m. in
the 7000 block of Norworth Road
from someone in a vehicle, which fled the area, and found in front of the address by officers responding to the report, Sgt. David Shimberg said.

Radford was taken by Jefferson Township paramedics to Mount Carmel East Hospital where he died just before 6:00 p.m., Shimberg said.

Detectives are still trying to determine the circumstances associated with this incident.
