COLUMBUS – Columbus City Council holds a virtual hearing Thursday on the application from Mayor Andrew Ginther to create a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area in the Arena District.

The virtual public hearing scheduled for 5:00 p.m. will include a presentation in favor of the proposal and an opportunity for the public to offer feedback.

“We’re eager to gather public feedback on such an exciting proposal. This designated area is primed to be a popular destination for residents to enjoy many memorable evenings while frequenting local businesses and taking in a game,” council member Emmanuel Remy said.

The designated area, or DORA, would encompass Nationwide Arena, Huntington Park and Lower.com Field.

On days when the Blue Jackets, Clippers or Crew play home games, visitors to the DORA would be allowed to carry alcoholic beverages from participating bars and restaurants outside and into other restaurants, bars and stores from three hours before game-time until 11:59 p.m.
