COLUMBUS – Jake Slaughter hit a tie-breaking two-run home run in the eighth inning to give the Iowa Cubs a 4-3 win over the Clippers Sunday afternoon.
The Cubs won two out of three games at Huntington Park.
The shot to left field off Chris Vallimont (2-6) was Slaughter’s 16th homer of the season.
Yonathan Perlaza hit a solo homer earlier in the inning to bring the Cubs to within a run at 3-2.
Cam Sanders (5-0) picked up the win and Manuel Rodriguez pitched a perfect ninth for his 12th save.
Bryan Lavistada hit a two-run homer for Columbus.
