COLUMBUS – Caleb Kilian kept Columbus hitters in check as the Iowa Cubs beat the Clippers, 9-5, Friday night at Huntington Park.

The right-hander (2-0) allowed only one run while striking out five over five innings.

Jake Slaughter drove in four runs on a 2-for-4 night that included a three-run home run in the seventh inning.

Mike Tauchman and Jake Washer added solo homers off Columbus starter Hunter Gaddis (0-1).

Jhonkensy Noel knocked in two runs with a single in the sixth, which cut the Cubs’ lead to 4-3, and Brayan Rocchio and Raynel Delgado added late solo homers.
