CINCINNATI (AP) — Kentucky’s governor says a fiery crash could keep a bridge linking Ohio and Kentucky closed for days.
Governor Andy Beshear says drones are being used to help inspect the Brent Spence Bridge, which carries traffic on I-71 and I-75 across the Ohio River between Cincinnati and northern Kentucky.
Heat from the blaze made the bridge too hot for inspectors during part of Wednesday.
Beshear says debris from the crash is another obstacle.
The bridge is a crucial link for interstate commerce. Authorities are sending motorists to I-275 as a detour.
Officials say a truck hauling potassium hydroxide and another truck crashed on the bridge early Wednesday.
Beshear says damage to the bridge and its concrete decking is visible.
