The exhibit will be in place in time to honor Glenn during on what would have been his 100th birthday and for the 60th anniversary of his historic orbit of the globe next February.

The statue, created by Zanesville artist Alan Cottrill will be installed Wednesday in the Statehouse Museum Gallery, on the ground floor near the Great Ohioans exhibit.

Glenn was among the first to be recognized as a Great Ohioan when the award was established in 2003 by the Capitol Square Foundation and the Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board, the panel that oversees the Statehouse and its grounds.

Cottrill also created statue of Thomas Edison in Statuary Hall of the U.S. Capitol.
