Homicide victim is city’s 147th of the year

COLUMBUS – A man who was found dead on the Hilltop early Friday is the 147th homicide victim of 2020 in Columbus.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the area of Columbian and Doren Avenues at 1:24 a.m. found Davion Galloway in the roadway unresponsive and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Sgt. David Shimberg of the Homicide Unit said.

The 30-year-old Galloway was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shimberg says investigators are still attempting to determine a motive for the shooting.

A man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, found in a vehicle on a freeway exit ramp Thursday night, was listed in critical condition, police said.

Officers found 34-year-old Jason Sawyers sitting in the driver’s seat of the vehicle on the I-71 northbound exit ramp to E. North Broadway at approximately 7:37 p.m., Felony Assault Unit Det. Mautez Fulton said.
