COLUMBUS – After four year and $125 million, the South Side Mega Fix is mega-fixed.
Work Zone speed limit signs will be removed from the seven-mile stretch of IU-71 between downtown Columbus and Grove City Wednesday, symbolizing the completion of the project, and the speed limit on the interstate will be restored to 65 mph, the Ohio Department of Transportation announced Tuesday.
The project, which began in 2017, widened I-71 between I-70 and Stringtown Road, reconfigured the I-71/270 interchange, realigned State Route 104/Jackson Pike, and constructed ramp lanes in both directions of I-71 between Stringtown Rd. and I-270 in Grove City.
The improvements are expected to benefit commuters and provide easier access to and from the fast-growing suburb.
