COLUMBUS – Columbus police have identified the skeletal remains of a person found in a wooded area on the South Side earlier this month and are treating the death as suspicious.
Meanwhile, a man found shot to death in a Southeast Side apartment became the 129th homicide victim of 2021 in Columbus.
UPDATE 8/18/21 10:20 a.m.: Police have released the identity of the victim in the following incident.
Patrol officers responding to a report of a dead body in the 1800 block of S. High Street found the remains of David Judd, 49, though due to the advanced stage of decomposition, the cause of death could not be determined, Sgt. Eric Pilya of the Homicide Unit said.
Pending a ruling from the Franklin County Coroner’s Office, detectives are investigating the death as suspicious, Pilya said
UPDATE 8/11/21 8:53 a.m.: The following story has been edited to correct the victim’s identity
Lamont Wilcoxson, 38, was found shot to death in an apartment at 2356 Shore Boulevard West just before 2:00 p.m. Monday, Pilya said.
No suspect information was available.
