COLUMBUS – With the Komen Columbus Race for the Cure replaced by a “virtual” race, the charity is partnering with Homage to encourage more participants to raise funds.
The team at Homage has created a replica of the first Race for the Cure t-shirt from 1993 that will be provided to anyone who raises or donates $100 for Komen Columbus leading up to the Virtual Race for the Cure on Aug. 1.
The 1993 Race for the Cure hosted 875 registrants. Since then, the race has grown to more than 20,000 participants in 2019, making it the largest of all Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure events in the United States.
Komen Columbus has invested more than $33 million toward the goal of ending breast cancer.
The 2020 race will take place virtually as a result of ongoing COVID-19 concerns and restrictions on mass gatherings.
