COLUMBUS – One person is under arrest after turning himself in to police following a shooting on the Northwest Side that resulted in the 20th homicide of 2021 in Columbus.
Elias Malone approached Columbus police officers who were called to 4902 Aspen Pine Boulevard at 7:36 p.m. Wednesday on a report of a disturbance inside the residence and confessed to shooting Tristan Foor, Sgt. James Marable of the Homicide unit said.
The officers found Foor, 22, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and Columbus paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Shortly thereafter, Malone, 20, approached the officers who were guarding the scene and admitted to detectives that he shot Foor. He was charged with murder, Marable said.
It was the second homicide investigation of the day.
Officers called to 45 Rodgers Avenue in Franklinton on a reported shooting at 2:23 p.m. found a 20-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The man, whose name was not released because his family had not been contacted, was pronounced dead at the scene.
UPDATE 2/1/21 6:58 a.m.: The victim in this shooting has be4en identified as 20-year-old Jahshaune Coleman.
The circumstances that led to the shooting are still under investigation, Marable said.
