COLUMBUS – A 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with a homicide on the Northeast Side Friday morning.
Detectives say Deshajuan Carpenter has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a man in his 20’s whose was found inside a vehicle in the 1800 block of Oakgrove Court at 10:12 a.m. by officers responding to a reported shooting.
Preliminary investigative results uncovered that this was a robbery attempt, and police questioned several witnesses and persons of interest, Sgt. Eric Pilya of the Columbus police Homicide Unit said.
The victim, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at scene at 10:24 a.m.
This was the 182nd homicide of the year in Columbus, Pilya said.
