COLUMBUS – A man shot on an East Side street late Thursday night died Friday morning, the latest homicide victim in Columbus.
Gavin Lane was found in the front yard of a home in the 900 block of Greers Avenue at 11:23 p.m. by Columbus police officers responding to a report of gunfire in the area, Sgt. Edward Powell of the Homicide Unit said.
The 30-year-old Lane was taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center where he died at 12:36 a.m.
Witnesses told police that a white SUV was seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed after the shots were fired, Powell said.
The investigation is ongoing.
This is the 108th homicide of 2021 in Columbus.
