COLUMBUS – Police have released no information on suspects in the 130th homicide of the year in Columbus.
Jermale Payton was shot to death on the West Side early Tuesday morning, Sgt. Edward Powell III of the Columbus Homicide Unit said.
Officers dispatched to the area of Greenfield Drive and Canonby Place on the West Side approximately 1:15 a.m. on a report of shots fired found Payton, 35, lying in the street suffering from a gunshot wound, Powell said.
Officers at scene performed life saving measures until Columbus paramedics arrived and transported the victim to Grant Medical Center where he died at 1:51 a.m.
