COLUMBUS – Police are investigating the death of a man who was shot while driving along a Southeast Side street Friday afternoon.

Lante Hughes, 23, was found in the 5400 block of Chatford Square just after 3:00 p.m. Friday and was pronounced dead at the scene by Madison Township paramedics, Sgt. James Marable of the Columbus police Homicide Unit said.
This was the 128th homicide in Columbus in 2021.
The investigation revealed the man was driving on Chatford Square when his vehicle was struck by gunfire, Marable said.
After the shooting, the vehicle continued a short distance before striking a parked vehicle, Marable said.
