Man, woman sought in separate slayings

COLUMBUS – Columbus police have charged two people in connection with separate homicides.

A Mechanicsburg man is being sought for what detectives call the “particularly brutal murder” of a man whose body was found on the Northwest Side on July 17, Sgt. James Marable of the Columbus police Homicide Unit said.

Timothy Kendrick, 33, has been charged with murder in the death of Drew Mendelbaum, 30, who had been reported missing before the discovery of his body in the 4600 block of Sawmill Road.

Police are also looking for Teona Brooks, 22, who has been charge with murder in the shooting death of 39-year-old Maurice Porter in Franklinton last Thursday, Marable said.
