Pedestrian killed on SW Side interstate

COLUMBUS – A 32-year-old Grove City man was struck and killed while walking in the roadway on I-270 on the Southwest Side, shutting down the freeway for most of the Thursday morning rush-hour.

Timothy Bobo was walking in the northbound lanes of the interstate south of Georgesville Road at approximately 4:03 a.m. when he was struck by a Jeep Patriot driven by Robert Smith, 40, of Columbus, Sheriff Dallas Baldwin said.

Bobo was pronounced dead at the scene by Jackson Township fire personnel.

The northbound lanes of I-270 and the ramps from I-71 to the Outerbelt were closed for about three hours.

The incident remains under investigation.
