COLUMBUS – Nine people have been charged with operating a drug trafficking operation on the city’s East Side and in the Linden neighborhood.

The nine were arrested after an investigation that began last summer culminated when detectives with the Columbus Police Drug Cartel Unit determined that eight men and one woman were receiving large quantities of narcotics from Mexico which they would then distribute in Columbus, according to Division of Police spokesman Sgt. James Fuqua.
The unit brought the case to a conclusion in January by arresting the nine who were indicted on 33 felony drugs- and weapons-related charges by a Franklin County grand jury.
During the operation, police seized 83 guns, 12 of which had been stolen, more than $14,000 in cash, three vehicles, 905 pounds marijuana, 698 grams of cocaine and 26 grams of crystal methamphetamine, Fuqua said.
