Police looking for clues in two homicides

COLUMBUS – Columbus police are investigating a pair of homicides that were reported on Wednesday.

UPDATE 1/7/22 10:27 a.m.: This corrects the gender of the victim in the homicide on Centab Drive, who was originally reported to be a man. We regret the error. The victim’s name and other information were released by Columbus police Friday.

A woman’s body (correction) was found near a dumpster in the 300 Block of Centab Drive on the East Side at 7:47 a.m. but, due to the condition of the body, Sgt. David Shimberg of the Homicide Unit says investigators were unable to determine her identity.

The victim was subsequently identified as Creeshawna Renee Jordan, 31.

Shimberg says detectives are still attempting to identify the circumstances surrounding this incident.

At 6:10 p.m., officers called to the 1700 block of Sullivant Avenue on a report of a shooting found the decedent 38-year-old Rashawn Garner suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, Sgt. James Marable of the Homicide Unit said.

Garner died later at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center.

These were the second and third homicides of 2022 in Columbus.
