COLUMBUS – Police are looking for the man they believe is responsible for a double shooting in South Linden that left a 21-year-old man dead.
An arrest warrant has been filed for Nasear Smith, whose last known address was on E. Blake Avenue, a few blocks away from the scene on Kenmore Road where Nasear, 23, allegedly shot Derek Hoston and Evan Hill shortly after 12:30 a.m. Monday, Det. Jennifer Gribi of the Homicide Unit said.
Nasear is charged with murder in the death of Hoston, who was the 69th homicide victim of 2021 in Columbus.
At this time, his whereabouts are unknown.
Officers arriving at the scene in the 1700 block of Kenmore Road found Hill leaving the area in a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound, and Hoston lying in a parking lot. Hoston died later at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
Police determined that the shooting has occurred at 1704 Kenmore Road.
The incident is still under investigation, police said.
