COLUMBUS – A puppy set on fire at an East Side park Sunday is doing “remarkably well.
UPDATE: 10/16/20 10:20 a.m.: A suspect is reportedly in custody in connection with this incident

The puppy was set on fire while in her plastic cage or crate in Walnut Hill Park, near Walnut Hill Road and Saranac Drive, sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Battalion Chief Steve Martin said.
Firefighters responding to the park just after noon found a small area of melted plastic on fire underneath a tree and, as they were extinguishing the fire, saw a small yellow puppy with white feet and a white flea collar running in the area, Martin said.
The puppy had black plastic melted to her back and Martin says firefighters realized the puppy had been in the cage when it had been ignited.
Firefighters transported the puppy to the Diley Hill Animal Medical Center where she was treated for her burn injuries and adopted by the staff, Martin said.
