COLUMBUS – The Nationwide Children’s Hospital Columbus Marathon & ½ Marathon returns Sunday as an in-person event after the 2020 event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nationwide Children’s Hospital Columbus Marathon & ½ Marathon

The more than 8,000 athletes who are expected to participate needed to show proof of vaccination by last week but can bring evidence of a negative COVID-19 test up until 6:00 p.m. Saturday to receive their race number.

The 41st edition of the Columbus Marathon starts at North Bank Park at 7:30 a.m. Sunday

The events have raised more than $10 million for Nationwide Children’s Hospital since 2012.

Twenty-four miles of the 26.2-mile marathon are represented by a patient of Nationwide Children’s Hospital and their families, who will be cheering on participants and serving as a visual reminder of how the marathon helps ill and injured children.

The other two miles along the Marathon route are the “Encore Mile” at mile 10, featuring patients who were honored along the race route the previous eight years, and “Angel Mile” at mile 11, dedicated to hospital patients who have died.
