COLUMBUS – Ohio State University officials say two men got into a dorm Tuesday night and pulled a knife on a student who walked in on their attempts to steal items from a room.
The two men followed an authorized vehicle into the Neil Building Hall Complex in the 1700 block of Neil Avenue, a tactic known as “tailgating,” at approximately 6:47 p.m., according to a safety alert sent out by the university Tuesday night.
The suspects entered an unlocked residence hall suite and began to steal property.
When a student entered the suite, one of the suspects pushed the student while the other man displayed a knife.
Both men fled the residence hall, traveling south, with stolen property.
No injuries were reported.
Officials wrote they were issuing the safety notice to alert students and residents of nearby neighborhoods of “a continuing concern and/or threat to the campus community.”
Anyone with information related to the crime is asked to contact The Ohio State University Police Division at 614-292-2121.
