COLUMBUS – The National Weather Service confirms that an EF0 tornado touched down in Delaware County during Monday night’s storms, knocking down trees and damaging a home.

The twister, with maximum winds of 80 mph, covered a 3.4-mile track between Delaware and Sunbury just after 5:00 p.m., as the county was under a tornado warning issued at 5:02 p.m.

The weather service’s surveyors estimate the tornado is touched down in a field just west of Jumper Road where tees and large limbs were knocked down and a roof was partially torn off a home.

Additional tree damage was noted along N. Old State Road and observers say the tornado likely crossed Alum Creek, producing additional tree damage along N 3 Bs and K Road before lifting.

Damage observed in Delaware, Lewis Center, in the Berkshire area east of I-71 and in Marysville was likely caused by straight line winds of 60 to 65 mph, weather service officials said.
