COLUMBUS – Columbus police say two children and a man were killed when someone fired indiscriminately into the vehicle they were sitting in at a Southeast Side apartment complex Tuesday night.
The triple murder brings the total number of homicides in Columbus in 2021 to 186.

Charles Wade, 22, Demitrius Wall’neal, 9, and his 6-year-old sister, Londynn, were seated in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Winchester Lakes apartment complex in the 6600 block of Kodiak Drive, near Canal Winchester, just after 6:00 p.m. when two armed suspects approached and began firing at the vehicle “without any apparent warning or provocation,” Sgt. James Marable of the Columbus police Homicide Unit said.
The suspects got into a waiting vehicle, driven by a third suspect, and fled the scene, Marable said.
Columbus Police Officers were called to the scene at 6:16 p.m. found the three victims inside the vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Columbus paramedics pronounced all three dead at 6:45 p.m., Marable said.
