COLUMBUS – Led by dead-on shooting by Jacy Sheldon and Taylor Mikesell, Ohio State beat Michigan State 89-83 in a Big Ten women’s basketball game at Value City Arena Wednesday night.
Sheldon led all scorers with a career-high 33 points while Mikesell notched 25 points on the back of five triples.
Rebeka Mikulášiková recorded her third double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Buckeyes (14-3, 4-2 Big Ten).
Trailing 27-18 at the end of the first quarter, Ohio State used a 9-0 run to get back within one and retook the lead, 33-32, on a three-pointer from Gabby Hutcherson and ended up outscoring the Spartans (8-8, 2-3) 28-8 to lead 46-35 at halftime.
Michigan State closed the gap to four points with 2:19 to play but got no closer.
